• Are You Gonna Talk Or Are You Going To DO Something?

“One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.  Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.   When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.  Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”  So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.  Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ…

  • GUEST POST: ‘Clever Distractions’ – By Onyedika Nwoji

Clever distractions are simply what they are…clever distractions! They are clever because they are subtle, sly, cunning, smart, etc. The funny thing about clever distractions are they don’t even look like distractions. In fact, most of them appear really good morally, and even spiritually. Yes! That’s the danger. One major clever distraction among believers is being BUSY! Busy doing God’s work, ministry, missions, church work & meetings, etc. A few weeks ago, I was listening to a rap song by Andy Mineo titled “Death of Me”, and every time I listen to it, these words from the song always hit me deep: “Jesus retreated to speak with His Father, I know that I…

  • I Believe You.

I believe you. I have had to say that to a human this week and it was a step of faith that was taken in fear, because faith does not always mean the absence of fear, it means acknowledging the fear and deciding not to yield to it. Honestly, I didn’t even know I was that afraid until I was confronted with the truth. But I chose faith. And I chose to believe.

  • About Tim’s Circumcision & The Sacrifice For Purpose

“Paul came first to Derbe, then Lystra. He found a disciple there by the name of Timothy, son of a devout Jewish mother and Greek father. Friends in Lystra and Iconium all said what a fine young man he was. Paul wanted to recruit him for their mission, but first took him aside and circumcised him so he wouldn’t offend the Jews who lived in those parts. They all knew that his father was Greek.” (ACTS 16:1-3MSG) Why did Paul have to circumcise Timothy before taking him along on his missionary journey? After all, the elders of the church had established earlier that non Jewish believers don’t need circumcision to…

  • Peace Is Not Neccesarily The Absence Of Chaos

When you realize that the story of your life is authored by God himself, you will be at peace. You will be at peace with yourself, peace with your environment and peace with God. Lately, I have been learning about God’s peace. I have read it countless times in Apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians, that we can experience a kind of peace that is beyond  human understanding but it is one thing to read about an experience, it is another thing to live that experience. I understand that the peace of God is not necessarily the absence of chaos and trouble. The peace of God is a deep understanding…

  • GUEST POST: Black, White & Grey Areas – by @Dikky_CIA

If you’ve studied the scriptures long enough, you should  have discovered that there are some stuff that are clear cut black and white; meaning some things are well defined as either good or evil. But then, there are some other stuff that aren’t well defined as either good or evil. These are the grey areas. These grey areas are usually topics for debates among christian circles, and there are some which most Christians don’t even wanna delve into or meddle with. But then, these grey area issues SHOULD be addressed for the very reason of avoiding negative extremes. First, let’s settle a fact; anything that is clear cut black and…

  • Lessons About Living Or Not Living For Myself…

I’ve been living for myself recently. Trying so hard to do things & position myself in places that benefit only me. No wonder I’ve been disillusioned, tired & worried. I asked a friend to pray for me. God answered by showing me this: 2 Corinthians 5:15 (NLT) “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” He then pointed out what I’ve been doing wrong and how my motives had become affected. That shift is so subtle you don’t even notice. You might still be doing good things…

  • Do Not Rejoice When…..

If you find yourself laughing at the misfortunes of others, you should examine your heart critically. Do you feel better now that you know someone else is not happy? Are you happy that you’re not the only one unhappy? A case of ‘misery loves company’? How do you think God feels when you’re hurt? Do you think he laughs? Your ‘enemy’s downfall is not proof of your righteousness. Proverbs 24:17  “Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble.”

  • Pain Filled Obedience

“Dear God i have obeyed you. Why is everything now so horrible? I thought things are supposed to be fine after obedience. Why has it gotten worse?” If you can relate to this, welcome to the realm of the mysterious wisdom of God. Obedience is learned. And the lessons don’t come easy or cheap. With obedience comes spiritual authority and to get there, one must learn patience, and perseverance. How do you learn that if you do not go through difficulties?

  • Not That Easy To Be Like Jesus…

You know how we love the idea of ‘being like Jesus’? we sing it, preach it and pretend to even live it… but you and i know most of the time, we are so far from the real deal… I read the above bible verse today and i had to pause and think about my life. simple sounding words but powerful enough to strike me in a very deep place. When people take unfair advantage of me, i am usually motivated to stay away from them not practice the servant life. And i usually don’t pray for those who give me a hard time. But this right here is the…

  • When Your Security Fails… And It Will..!

Do you know what it means for the mountains to be moved and the hills disappear? The mountains and hills that surround ancient cities are usually trusted and relied on by the military to aid in the city’s defence. They can be used as hiding places or used to launch strategic military attacks. Now, God is saying even if the physical defences that you’ve mounted and relied on to protect you are no longer there, HIS LOVE CAN BE RELIED UPON to keep you protected and cared for.

  • Gratitude Is Beyond Saying “Thank You”

We live in a culture of entitlement. Everyone expects something from other people. Some expectations are valid, while some are just plain unreasonable. People always say that the entertainment industry is a place where loyalty is practically non-existent. and while I have experienced my share of back-stabbing and outright betrayal, I somehow still try to look for the best in people and extend my hand to help out in the best way that I can. Unfortunately, there really hasn’t been any improvement. Ingratitude abounds and it’s disheartening to see God’s children becoming susceptible to this sinful trait.

  • That ‘Gist’ Isn’t Really Worth It..

Do you ever leave a conversation feeling ‘tainted’? It’s like after the ‘gist’, you feel like a portion of your ‘holiness’ have been drained off. You just can’t help feeling like there was something off about the conversation you’ve had and there’s that nagging thing you can’t seem to shake. I sincerely hope that this post does not come up as self-righteous in any way; because that’s not the intention.  I just want to draw your attention to the fact that if we are more sensitive to the Holy Spirit, he’ll point us in the right direction and we will not sin with our tongue in keep company with those…

  • Can’t Help But Shine….

Have you ever wondered why certain things are effortless with you?  It’s easy to come up with new ideas,  easy to achieve certain things you put your mind to, easy to speak up about issues, easy to get people to listen to you etc It’s because you have been made a light bearer. Think about this. If you light a candle. Does the candle make extra effort to burn? No. Because that’s what it’s made to do!

  • What I Want The Most.

Do you know it’s possible to stray from God without even realizing that you have strayed? I’m not talking about straight out backsliding into sin and decadence, but the gradual subtle leading of our desires from the basic “seek ye first…” We do Christian things, go to church, write Christian articles, teach a bible class, sing in the choir but our attention is diverted by those things we do. So we are overwhelmed with thoughts of success in those things, we want to do it perfectly; we are so set on working the gift that the giver of the gift is forgotten.
