News flash dear Christians; arguments about who is right and who is wrong has never brought anyone to Christ. It only makes us look unpleasant and the gospel unappealing.
God is more interested in saving people’s souls and he wants everyone to come in genuine repentance and then do his will out of love and reverence.
These days, it seems we have forgotten our primary assignment; which is to “reconcile people back to God”.
2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT)
“For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.”
How do we reconcile people when we can’t stop arguing and trying so hard to score points? How do we reconcile people when we are so quick to point out their flaws and failings? How do we reconcile people when we give then an attitude that elevates us as better than they are?
Changing people is the work of God through the Holy Spirit. Our job is to bring them to him and love them to him. We don’t get to decide who can come or not come and we don’t get to make rules about how they come.
Jesus never argued with the pharisees who always came to him with controversial issues, hoping to spark off an argument. he never rose to the bait. He answered simply with the word and loved people into the kingdom.
What happens when you win the argument but lose the soul?
